Mere possession of certain quantities of drugs can result in the enhanced charge of “Trafficking in Controlled Substances.” The State does not have to prove that you were selling it, just that you possessed it and it met a certain weight. That weight is determined by the total weight of the mixture, regardless of how diluted or pure the substance. For example, just a small amount of cocaine (1 gram) cut into a large amount of baking soda (27 grams), legally becomes 28 grams of cocaine.
